Potential Optimization Techniques: Concentration and Efficiency

What is Concentration and Efficiency?

Concentration is the ability to focus one’s attention on a specific task, eliminating both internal distractions (intrusive thoughts, emotions) and external ones (noise, solicitations).

Efficiency directly stems from this ability to remain focused on the objective by optimizing one’s physical and mental resources.

TOP® offer practical tools to quickly enter a state of concentration, maintain attention over time, and adjust one’s activation level according to the situation’s needs.

Whether it is passing an exam, making an important decision, performing a technical gesture, or competing, concentration and efficiency form an inseparable pair for performance.

Mental Rehearsal (RM)

Mental rehearsal involves mentally replaying an action or situation before actually performing it. It enables you to become more aware of the situation, reinforce your automatisms, refine the precision of your gestures and anticipate possible obstacles.

This technique is particularly useful in sports, highly technical professions or high-stakes communication situations. Properly carried out, MR activates the same neural networks as real action, improving fluidity, confidence and efficiency during action.

PMR

PMR involves clearly defining objectives, structuring action and anchoring a positive image of success. By projecting a favorable scenario, it helps condition the brain to seek the solution and mobilize the necessary resources. It also allows you to project yourself beyond your goal, in order to prepare for the aftermath, both consciously and unconsciously.

Used regularly, PMR becomes a true performance lever: it strengthens motivation, develops self-efficacy, and helps maintain focus on the chosen direction despite obstacles.

Mental Pre-activation (PAM)

Mental pre-activation is a short ritual that involves mentally preparing the key points of an upcoming action in a state of active vigilance. It helps mobilize one’s energy at the right moment, eliminate distractions, and focus attention on the essential aspects of the task.

It is particularly suitable before a public speaking engagement, an exam, an intervention, or a competition. Thanks to PAM, the individual fosters their ‘optimal state of functioning,’ ready to act with efficiency and precision.

Psycho-physiological Energizing (DPP)

DPP relies on breathing techniques, movements, internal dialogue, and mental representation that boost physical and mental energy. It is ideal for combating fatigue, regaining vitality, and boosting one’s effectiveness during a busy day.

In practice, it acts as a quick recharge: a few minutes are enough to regain vigor, motivation, and mental clarity.

It is highly complementary to classic warm-ups, whether individual or collective.

SAR (quick reflex adjustment to refocus attention)

SAR is a technique based on Pavlov’s conditioned reflex to cope with stress and remain in the action activation zone.

It offers a quick response to distractions or rising stress. Its implementation requires regular training so that it becomes an effective reflex in critical moments. It can be a discreet movement, a keyword, or a specific breathing technique, making it usable in any professional, academic, or athletic context. It becomes a valuable ally for maintaining optimal concentration.

RNA (maintaining or returning to the optimal performance zone)

Activation Level Regulation (RNA) is a technique that allows one to maintain or very quickly return to the ideal zone for performance. It helps regulate energy and cognitive expenditure throughout an activity. It helps manage stress and emotion, thereby fostering motivation.
